My sister-in-law got married last fall at Le Cameleon in Costa Rica and we did the whole trip in 5 days.
Note: Not recommended but neccessary because of our lack of vacation days. Something to do with a major trip coming up two months later…
Le Cameleon is located on the pacific side of Costa Rica within the tropical forest of Puerto Viejo. I think we left for the airport at 4:30 AM because this hotel is off the beaten path and 4 hours on a good day from San Jose. Unfortunately, it took us almost 8 hours by bus. Through a small mountain range and a rainy rain forest. But at least we got to stop for food and restroom breaks. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30 Wednesday evening. To rain. A consistent theme for the whole weekend.
Lunch Break at a random restaurant in the mountains
Our first day at the resort was spent exploring Manzanillo with the wedding party.

The male side of the wedding party, including my husband, the priest.
Notice the local dogs? This one LOVED Lisa.
And had lunch at this little shack that I would never have dared enter if it wasn’t recommended. I felt like we were eating in the cook’s living room but it was absolutly amazing and gave us a great taste of the local cuisine.
Later that evening, we attended a cocktail party welcoming all of the wedding guests. It was, of course, raining. So the party moved into the restaurant instead of outside on the patio. But it was ok. Because the punch came in coconuts. Who can be upset at the weather when you are carrying around a coconut?
