No plans to rescue unexpected passenger

So the poor repair man who is accidentally going on a trip to Antarctica is not going to be rescued by the government.  The “New Zealand Herald” is reporting…

“The Government is stopping short of intervening to rescue a New Zealander who has been accidentally caught on board a Norwegian yacht without an emergency beacon and heading for Antarctic waters.”

I’m pretty sure this can be classified as kidnapping and maybe even attempted murder since the sailboat left without an emergency beacon.  And I feel really bad for the unlucky New Zealander because it’s expected to be another week before they even reach Antarctica (assuming that they make it, of course).  I really hope that the crew gave him a chance to get off and he is now willingly partaking in this adventure.  The story mentions that …

“The Foreign Affairs Ministry is providing consular advice to the New Zealand man’s family, though it is unclear whether the New Zealander has asked for assistance.”
