To announce that the G-8 summits have been moved from Chicago to Camp David.
I think we were probably right to be worried about the problems associated with the event. But I am curious to hear the reasoning behind the switch. Did a terrorist organization have Chicago in it’s sights? Were the organizers worried about protests turning into riots? Did city planners realize that it was going to really expensive to reimburse Chicago companies for loss of business? Was Chicago ever going to host the event or was it just a case of misdirection?
We will probably never know. But I think we can all agree that it’s embarrassing that Chicago was not going to ever be ready to host this type of event, um, “world showcase” if you wanted to believe our mayor, the Rhamfather.
